WHAT IS DTLA Forward?

DTLA FORWARD is a partnership with the City, community stakeholders, and strategic partners to achieve thriving and complete streets in Downtown LA. This transportation and planning initiative, launched by Councilmember Huizar, coordinates projects in the public realm.

DTLA FORWARD enhances Downtown streets, improves transportation, prioritizes pedestrians, and enlivens public space.

4th St Bridge Art Steps

The mural at the 4th St. Bridge Steps was completed in January 2017 by artist John Cuevas.  This project was implemented in April 2017 when local Arts District resident and artist, Brigitte Secard brought this idea to the Director of the Business Improvement District, Miguel Vargas. The idea won support from other neighborhood organizations including the L.A. River Artists and Business Association and the Historic Cultural Neighborhood Council. The project was funded by Councilmember José Huizar. The budget was $3,000, with $2,600 allocated to Cuevas and the rest going to materials.
