Add Your Voice to Oppose 710 Freeway Expansion

Councilmember Huizar led efforts to have the City of L.A. officially oppose the 710 Freeway Expansion through El Sereno and Northeast LA via freeway or tunnel, and he urges you to attend upcoming Metro meetings on the expansion plans and make sure your voice is heard.

As a former Metro Director, Councilmember Huizar voted against moving forward with the draft EIR now being considered. He believes that a multi-modal approach is the only alternative worth pursuing to alleviate traffic and that an above-ground freeway or tunnel through our communities could prove devastating to our local El Sereno and Northeast neighborhoods. If you cannot attend tomorrow's meeting, see details on all meetings below.

The more that I read into this subject, the more I feel that this major infrastructure project is being deceptively sold to the public to benefit the mobility and congestion relief of commuters but is truly designed to benefit interstate commerce and the trucking industry who are able to pay out of necessity the toll fees and pass the costs on to the consumers. Studies have also shown that there is a 35% toll avoidance which will defeat the purpose of reducing street congestion.

I am totally opposed to the expansion of the 710. It would decimate our community physically, as well as pollute our air with exhaust and noise.

I am against the 710 freeway I don’t think it should continue since the first idea to run through pasadena was opposed. why should we do it another way. One group of people should not decide we should all be unified and not allow one group of region to make all the decision. No to 710
