Community members are invited to attend a Community Unity Forum with newly appointed Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Superintendent of Schools Michelle King. The forum will provide an opportunity to meet and hear from her directly on her vision for improving attendance and graduation rates. This is an important opportunity for community members to advocate for changes in budget priorities for schools in our working class communities.
The Community Unity Forum is presented by the Healthy Schools Campaign, which is part of the Building Healthy Communities – Boyle Heights Initiative that promotes school climate policy and investments that help students overcome social barriers and improve school success through prevention and intervention programs including Restorative Justice and Comprehensive Wellness Centers. Collaborating campaigns include The Dignity in Schools Campaign and The Brothers Sons Selves Coalition.
The event is free and dinner will be provided. Parking is also free on the Roosevelt High School parking lot. To RSVP for updates, call 213-700-5503 or visit www.SchoolsUnityForum.eventbrite.com.
