El Sereno
& Surrounding Areas

The community of El Sereno sits atop the Monterey Hills that separate the Los Angeles basin from the San Gabriel Valley and is known for its beautiful, rolling hillsides. El Sereno was founded in 1905 as a working-class suburb of Los Angeles along the former Pacific Electric Railway line. Many of its residents are people who grew up in El Sereno and have returned to raise their own families in this proud, tight-knit community. Since Councilmember Huizar took office, he has delivered on several key community projects that had remained unfulfilled for more than 30 years. Crime has dropped an incredible 42% during this time too.
