YOUR INPUT IS NEEDED!
The next meeting of the Technical Working Session of the Exide Technologies Advisory Group is scheduled for Thursday, April 28, 2016 followed by a Public Meeting. The Public Meeting will be an opportunity for members of the communities surrounding Exide to learn about the sampling and cleanup program and sign Access Agreements to test properties. There will also be information about Los Angeles County Department of Public Health's blood lead testing campaign.
As you may recall from your February meeting, South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) and the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) brought forward a DRAFT document proposing "Operating Principles
" for the Advisory Group. The purpose and background of this document is that many Advisory Group members have stated that the Group needs more structure and a shared sense of how it will function, who is supposed to participate as a member, what the roles and responsibilities are of various participants and staff, and similar. We briefly discuss
ed the document in February and committed to conduct further discussions in upcoming meetings. At and since the February meeting, some Group members have contacted us asking to be involved in the "subcommittee" we'd initially called for to help review the Operating Principles.
Each meeting will be run the same way. We will review the DRAFT document completely, and then we will open the floor for input from Advisory Group members. The meeting will be facilitated by Dave Ceppos of the Center for Collaborative Policy. He and DTSC staff will take notes and will compile these into a revised version of the Operating Principles which DTSC and SCAQMD will then present on April 28th. Please contact Susan Castro-Valenzuela with questions and comments about this approach.
