Huizar Statement on Need to Expand Metro Service to Arts District’s 6th Street

Metro will consider a report on possible Stations at 3rd Street or 6th Street in the Arts District. The 6th Street proposal was brought to our office by Arts District stakeholders and we reached out to the Mayor's office about issuing a motion at Metro, which is part of the report that is being considered.

“Whether considering train efficiency, proximity to the new 6th Street Bridge, Park and LA River, or effectively connecting the Arts District with our County's transportation system, a Metro station at 6th Street is the superior option. We need to make sure it moves forward by placing it on Metro’s Long Term Transportation Plan, so it can receive project status and we can begin the process of turning a brilliant community idea into a gold-standard transportation reality.”

Below is a letter by Councilmember Huizar submitted to the Metro Board.
